(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of markgugs. Pours a dark brown with a vague reddish hue and a beige head. Lightly tart aroma with bourbon notes showing. Medium body, lots of roasted malt and sweet vanilla. Dried fruit and weak touches of bourbon before a subdued bitterness. If this was infected - which I don’t really believe - then it was in a most spectacular way! 070907

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of over ripe fruit, berries, and bourbon that sting in the nose. The flavor has notes of wood, bourbon, vegetables, on a slightly acidic back ground - probably from very hard roasted malt, which is what the finish is dominated by. The alcohol burns sligthtly in the mouth and warms up the cheeks.

Bourbon barrels are just fine, but this particular barrel-aged beer was way too boozy in the end. I couldn’t help but think that perhaps there was lots of bourbon still in the barrel when it was filled with beer. Pours black with a thick tan head, looking more like a stout than a porter. The aroma is full of bourbon and some sweet notes of vanilla. The flavor is lots of whisky that overpowers everything else that may be here. But who could tell what else is actually here?

Bottle Pours a very dark brown with a large, coarse but quickly fading brown head. Spotty lacing. Lots of Burbon and vanilla in the aroma. Some light roasted chocolate notes also. Flavor is more woody and bitter. Feel is a bit thin and quick. Lots of darker roastd and cofee notes in the trailer. Slightly astringent and chalky at the end as well. Thanks to OhioDad for this one.

22oz Bottle Pours out black topped with a tan. A nice oak/wood aroma on top. There is also a nice sweat tast on this. I like this Porter. Thanks Indiana_Red

22 oz bomber. Had it last night and I just couldn’t figure out what I was smelling and tasting. I mean its a very strong aroma. It was a -?- aroma with some roastiness in the background. Same for the taste. And I was racking my head trying to figure out what that -?- was. Well, coming back on the site I see that -?- must be a mix of strong oak and strong bourbon flavors. So I give it 7s for being so present but I am not sure if I enjoyed it or not.

For people who like some beer with their bourbon. I have never had a beer that was so dominated by alcohol. The bourbon is everywhere in this beer. Aroma and even more so in the flavor. Otherwise the beer is fairly sweet, according to the distributor, who I think is very knowledgable, it is their standard London porter aged in the barrels. No doubt a very high abv.

On tap at the Michigan Winter Beer Fest in Lansing. This porter was way too heavy on the bourbon, with an overwhelming booziness drowning out the underlying notes of chocolate and coffee. Oily, slick palate. Sometimes I feel I’m rating the bourbon rather than the beer when I sample these overdone examples.
