August 2017: 500 ml bottle, vintage 2016, batch #1634-C, from Vinmonopolet Sauda. ABV is 10%, 25 IBU. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Small beige head. Malty sweetish aroma, some vinous notes, hints of molasses, liquorice and fusel. Sweet and rich malty flavour, notes of molasses, hints of raisins and dark dried fruits. Very modest hops.

Light haze on this deep red-amber beer, thin tan head. Light palate, reasonably smooth, decent fine carbonation. Sweet smooth malts, some cream and light caramel, like a simple barleywine. Ripe but fairly bright fruits. Smooth pine like overlay. Modest spice. Light and mildly warming finish. Well I don't quite feel like pounding the table and hollering 'Valhalla, I am coming', but I can imagine that drinking something vaguely like this would be very old world Norse. Good fun.

Panda thanks to Cloin: Poured a brown with maroon edges, head is off white to tan. Aroma is dark fruits, figgy, malty, boozy, sugary. Taste is boozy, carbonated, dark fruits, sugary, molasses.

Panda 🐼 at home thanks to Colin. A clear brown amber coloured pour with a whispy tan head. Aroma is semi sweet, cola cubes, brown sugars, ginger, dried apple, ginger, brown sugars, Flavour is composed of semi sweet, nice dried fruit, apple, plum fruit, apple curd, brown sugars, cola , ginger, some age. Nice stuff.

Bottle at home, from HOTM online, 24/11/21. Deep mahogany brown with a good sized lasting tan cap. Nose is fruit cake mix, spice, figs, winter cheer, burnt toffee, dried fruits, whisper of alcohol, hint of liquorice. Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, dates, toffee, brown sugar melt, spice, chocolate dipped raisins, modest hop tones, molasses. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid well balanced Quad.

Drucken på fat på Bishop Arms Gustaf, Malmö. 2020 vintage. Klassisk quad med silkeslen munkänsla, stor söt kropp, värmande alkohol och mycket torkad frukr, mörkt socker, karamell, och aningen kryddor. Välbalanserad och komplex. Mycket god

Nearly black, reddish-brown beer. Smells a little yeasty with anise, malt and dried fruit. Flavour has toasty malt, dried fruit, caramel, a touch of hop, some spice and boozy warmth. Full bodied, well balanced and too drinkable by half for the strength. Great stuff.
