Ruskigt gott.

Bottle at the brewery. Slightly solventy, but otherwise rather subtle, I would almost say characterless, at least compared to their other beers definitely. Still very good and very easy drinking at least. Only lightly sour.

From bottle @ Carnivale Brettanomyces. Vinegar in the aroma. Apple, vinous. Sour flavor with grapes, plums, citrus and vinegarry notes. Oak. Great complexity. Magic stuff, especially after the aroma loosens up a bit.

White grape lambic by Cantillon - the brewery that once resurrected the whole concept of 'grape lambic' itself long before the lambic hype train began to roll. Tasting glass from a 75 cl bottle at Bierkoning in Amsterdam during Carnivale Brettanomyces. Mousy, medium thick, egg-white, opening head, hazy ochre-ish tinged apricot blonde robe. Aroma of sweet white grapes and white dessert wine, sour cream or even plain whipped cream, purple gooseberries, old wet wood, stewing rhubarb, grape seed oil, yoghurt, damp haystack, hint of tomato sauce. Crisp, acidic but not too harshly puckering onset, lime- and sour grape-like, more sweet ripe grapes developing as well, gooseberry and plum esteriness, medium carbonated, rounded and surprisingly (for a lambic) creamy mouthfeel. Sourdough-wheaty body soaked in lactic dryness, grapey acidity and wild yeast esteriness, soft lemony edge adding lots of refreshment, ending with mild woody tannins, subtle grape skin astringency and lactic 'yoghurtiness'; the grape flavour lingers alongside a late, earthy bitterish touch. Wonderfully creamy, very highly drinkable masterpiece of a grape lambic, very different from Vigneronne (which I had last week in the Poesjenellekelder in Brussels) and in that sense a very distinct addition to Cantillon's already highly impressive portfolio. This is present-day Cantillon quality 'pur sang' and among the best beers I had during the Carnivale Brettanomyces event, especially as far as the sour and 'wild' beers are concerned.

At brettfest. Aroma of funky white grape, horseblanket, tart, hay and old hop. Taste has dry horseblanket, cherry, soft funk, white grape, tart, hay and oaky vanilla. Really good. Like funky white wine lambic.
