Costa Ricans have been enjoying this beer since 1924. Imperial is created from a balanced formula combining malts, grains and hops, without a pronounced overtone in its taste. It is what is known as a “centralized” beer. Adapted to a warm and spring-like climate, Imperial is Florida’s most popular and widely accepted beer, both nationally and internationally, and has thus become the favorite beer of Costa Rica.

Golden colour with a white head that soon vanish. Moderate sweet caramel malt aroma. Medium to light body. Moderate sweet and light bitter. A bit thin texture. Caramel malt dominating the flavour. Standard pale lager.
[Can that have travelled a lot. Visionthing got it from Arve_Christian. Visionthing then traded it with me for an outstanding pale lager from Hong Kong]

Bottle. Pours clear yellow with a medium fizzy white head that dissipates quickly but leaves some lacing. Aroma is heavily corn, cardboard and hay; minimal grains. Flavor is not sweet like so many. Notes of corn, grass, some bitterness in the finish. Not bad, actually.

Corn, beans, and plastic aroma. Clear yellow, thin head. Corn flavor, with a light sweetness that doesn’t detract. Harsh mouthfeel. Costa Rica tick!

Can from a friend. Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malt, candy and fruits. Sweet and fruity pale lager, a bit thin, but no skunky flavours. Just a litte hint of bitterness in the finish. Pretty tasteless, but an OK lager.

12 fl oz bottle at the "Beso" tapas restaurant on Staten Island, on January 29, 2012.BB 30 jul 2012Clear straw yellow color (in candle light), fairly big white head. Fresh malty taste, though a bit bland. Moussy mouthfeel, low bitterness. Sweet, malty, sugary scent.Fairly boring, but was a new country and a new rate, so :)

Bottle @ home. Costa Rica tick. Imperial (creative or ironic?) pours a golden, transparent appearance with a small, white head. A touch skunky, lightly fruity, quite sweet, pale malty aroma. Husky grainy, light but sweet pale malty, grassy hoppy, a touch citrusy flavor. Based on the layer of dust on the bottle, this had sat around for quite a while. Bleh.

12oz can from Khan. Thanks buddy. Pours a clear pale gold with a half finger of white head. Aroma of light grassy hops and some straw. Taste is light bitter. A little hoppy and a little hint of skunk. Light bodied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, not that bad. Much better than most MBCs I’ve had.

OK, so a pale lager called imperial, weird. a beer called imperial at 4.5%. Fading creamy head. Smell at fist was a little sulfur. Seems to be much more than 5% on the taste buds. Was actually anticipating something much more lagerlike. Somewhat dissapointing for a lager lover.
