Kvass is a fermented beverage made from stale dark, sourdough rye bread. It's brown and bubbly, with a beer-like taste, but its alcohol content is so low that it's considered non-alcoholic. Kvass is a staple of Russia, enjoyed by czars to peasants. Kvass has properties that protect against infectious disease and even protect against cancer development. It's tangy and not too sweet flavor, and it's said to be among the best things on earth to quench your thirst.

On tap at Beerfest Singapore, pours an opaque dark rusted amber with a small beige head. Nose brings out sweet caramel, some crusty rye bread, and a nice grainy character. Flavour is semi-sweet, with lots of syrupy caramel and bready toffee. There's not much rye bread character or molasses, but lots of brown sugar. This is actually quite enjoyable even if it's not properly authentic. I enjoyed this much more than any of their actual beers. Solid.

Keg at Beerfest Brewery, Singapore. Cloudy amber, small head. Aroma of brown sugar and rye bread. Sweetened to hell with light body and syrupy mouthfeel. Except for slight notes of peppery rye bread it retains no kvass character. All brown sugar.
