Keg at Pivzavod (Buiucani), Chişinau. Clear mahogany colour, creamy head. Aroma of dark bread and licorice. Sweet with light body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Cummin and fennel. Dark bread. No bitterness. Good, proper kvass.

PET ON TAP.

Look: clear ruby-brown, beige-frothy head with below average retention.
Aroma: rye spice, sweet, caramel.
Taste: quite sweet, rye or dark bread character, a bit metallic, prickly carbonation, no biting acidity.

Thanks to Dorin for this plastic-bottle. I only know Kwas (квас) as a malt-lemonade from the Russian shops - so I’m very keen on trying a real alcoholic (and brewed!) Kwas!
The beer in the glass (and the clear bottle) is muddy-nut brown. The nose is very smooth, milk-chocolate and has hints of rye (which should be used in a real Kwas). The brew starts really a bit like the lemonade, but turns much more into a real brew than a lemonade quickly. Not highly carbonated. Nicely milk-sourish (lactic acid) with sweet hints. Highly drinkable. The rye-body is not too heavy, bit nicely roasted-nutty present. Milk-chocolate with caramel. And absolutely smooth! Absolutely great - nothing artificial on it - I really start liking real-made квас - but I think they’re quite hard to get :). On the tongue remains a sweetish milk-chocolate, lactic-acid aroma with the typical nutty rye-flavour.
A great brew! Even if the sweetnes doesn’t derive from the rye-malt I like this brew! Smooth, lots of rye and nice lactic acid! --> 12/12/12/12
