A beer in collaboration with Oxbow Brewery from Maine, born from a mutual idea, developed and brewed together and now fully entered in our production line. How to bring an Italian pride like Brunello wine, famous all over the world for its quality, in an innovative product? In Oud Brunello the sweet and sour notes of the Oud Bruin style of beer are accompanied by the unmistakable scents derived from the refinement in Brunello barrels. Here the Oud Brunello spends 10 months of fermentation and maturation and receives that uniqueness always desired and finally acquired.

330 ml. bottle sampled @ LIBF 2017. Thank you for sharing RB-InBev Belgian crew! Dark brown, red hue, little tanned. Nose is low glue, thick Oud Bruin sour, wine syrup with low Balsamic vinegar. Taste sparkling, Oud Bruin goes towards glue & varnish notes but it is plenty thick with sour malts, barrel, dark cherry & balsamic vinegar. Body is glue, low vinegar, sourness builds & it becomes quite sour. Thicker body works quite well for it, really solid, very neat.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: oxidized, very dusty, red wine vinegar, bit of caramel. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish, fruity, some dried fruits, acidic. Aftertaste: pretty oxidized, red wine vinegar, fruity, dried raisins.

Bottle sample @ LIBF’17, thanks to the RB-InBev Belgian crew for the share. Acajou cuivrée, col fin beige. Arôme offre de fines effluves oxydées assez plaisantes, sucre brun, biscuité avec un petit rétro de fruits noirs. Palais est agréablement bien malté, biscuité, malté rappelant le spéculoos avec un petit effet aigrelet de vieille brune amenant le tout sur l’oxydé balsamique. Fruits noirs rappelant les raisins secs, prunes et cerises.

Bottle @Open Baladin (Rome). Bruna con riflessi rossicci, schiuma media persistente. Al naso sentori vinosi, di ciliegia e frutta secca, legno, cantina. In bocca è acida decisa, vinosa, con sentori di frutta sotto spirito. Corpo pieno, carbonazione media. Ottima.

Bottle pour at the Portland location, 10/21/16, unsure of the bottle date.
Dark cola-mahogany with deep amber/auburn highlights and a thin, beige head showing moderate to low retention. Good clarity.
Big cab and merlot-like notes in the nose (I guess technically brunello) add a good deal of vinous fruitiness. Strong fig-plum character as well which gives a good transition to roast and chocolate, alongside a balancing vanilla-caramel sweetness. Clean, and only a moderate amount of acetic acid. Thankfully it’s not sharp/boozy and the malt really helps keep things under control here. No overt oakiness and only a bit of dry, earthy wooden character with lots of cola, berry, wine and chocolate lingering on the finish.
Soft, with low carbonation, though it’s somewhat loose. Sticky chocolate melds with fig and prune notes as the beer slowly brightens from the wine character and tart acidity of the souring agents. Very nice impression of a sour brown, though it’s perhaps a shade too sweet and leans a bit much on the darker malt notes. Clean and well-made, though.

On tap at Fool's Gold, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is extremely musty and sweaty, with sweaty armpits, light whiskey, and tart dark fruits that are muted. Flavour is a little less sweaty, with whiskey, tart berries and some mustiness. An odd one, but nicely crafted once you get past the nose and it works well.
