Bottle at the main DC December gathering. Poured a near pitch black color with a small tan head. Aroma was chocolate, with plenty of grains, woody oak. Flavor had roasted coffee, burnt malts. Dark fruits. Some cherry notes?

Some citrus and some bretta. Tangy finish. Not a lot of stout in this at all. Black pour with ok head. Not my thing.

Bottle courtesy of nimbleprop, thank you! Extremely dark brown color, beige head. Nice aroma of malted milk balls dipped in vanilla dipped in espresso. Taste is lightly funky sourdough brownies with a vinous edge. Nice.

750 ml bottle into snifter; bottled in Fall 2014. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of tart cherry, green apple, raisin, prune, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, licorice, red wine, oak, light bourbon, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, light char, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky yeast, dark/roasted malt, and oak barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of tart cherry, green apple, raisin, prune, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, licorice, red wine, oak, light bourbon, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, light char, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of fruity/earthy tartness and roast/tannic oak bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart cherry, green apple, raisin, prune, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, licorice, red wine, oak, light bourbon, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, light char, and yeast/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky yeast, dark/roasted malt, and oak barrel flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly acidic/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome sour imperial stout style. All around great robustness, balance, and complexity of fruity/funky yeast, dark/roasted malt, and oak barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on with the balanced acidity. A highly enjoyable offering.
