Truly a unique mead that offers a flavor not just unlike any other mead but unlike any other beverage in the world. Our single barrel releases are limited and identified the batch number. We aged and fermented this mead in hand-selected, Samuel Adams Utopias® casks from the award-winning Boston Beer Company.
This flavorful, slightly fruity mead has a semi-sweet, complex flavor that is reminiscent of a deep, rich vintage port, fine cognac or aged sherry. Rich oak notes last long into the finish.

Bottle at Utopian flight and chocolate pairing. Pours a dark gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is honey and earth. Slick body, honey, apple, light booze, very good.

Bottles 9-19-2012 . Pours clear, darker blonde. Smell is tad boozy, complex. Taste is full, intense, sweet, still a lot of honey. Funky. Some oak, boozy, not extracting much else from the barrel though. Nice, but not amazing mead.

loads of booze. Very honey forward mulch, grass, dry white wine and cognac delicious but needs just a bit more balance. crazy with so much age on it.

Bottle split at RB Best Encomium share, Santa Rosa, 30/01/16 - Many Thanks ! Lightly hazed golden with a moderate off white cap. Nose is floral, Golden Grahams, mellow oak, grape must. Taste comprises honey dollop, light green berry, sweet stuff. Full bodied, smooth, oily, warming lick'o'booze in the close. Decent enough mead.

Bottle drunk 5/20/17.
Amber-golden with a good clarity and strong viscosity.
Spice, bourbon and maple rise up in the nose buoyed-on by the backing honey to create a lightly rich nose that shows just a hint of red fruits and light pepper with long molasses, buttercream and maple on the finish and quite low alcohol apparency.
Didn’t realize this was Utopias cask-aged, and while you do get lots of spice, wood, whiskey and port, it’s not particularly obvious that there was beer in here (I guess it’s not particularly obvious that Utopias is a beer, either). Raisin, vanilla and maple provide, rich, chewy, decadent flavors and the mead is sweet, not too much so, with a good viscosity that stops well-short of being syrupy or cloying. Soft oak lingers. Nice.

375 ml thanks to johnnnniee.... Awesome share! Clear gold color. Aroma is more than honey. Displays, mild oak, hints of brandy and subtle clove that is evident when warm. The flavor is a direct reflection and simply wonderful.
the Utopias barrel isn’t super obvious yet it’s still took on a totally unique character. Brandy, floral, and honey. Would I pay $125.00 a bottle? Hell no I would not! However, it is highly drinkable!
