Black Butte³ is described as a delicious equation of Deschutes Imperial Black Butte Porter aged in Black Butte Porter Whiskey casks from Bendistillery. The result is a tantalizing libation of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, oak that is set upon a slightly smoky, roasted finish. Black Butte³ is 90% oak aged so be prepared for an aggressive beer that should age gracefully. Black Butte3 will be for sale at $25 for a waxed dipped 22-ounce bottle.

Bottle from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a moderate, transient tan head. Aroma is heavily whiskey with wood and dark malt notes. Med plus body. Flavor is heavily, but very nice, whiskey, with wood, chocolate and dark malt aspects. Not really dry, but not really sweet. Heat largely stands in for bitter. Very, very good flavor. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pub Reserve Series: Black Butte³ on 05 Jan 2022 at 01:35 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8.5. Original review text: Waxed, capped bottle from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a slight, but persistent tan head. Aroma of whiskey, chocolate and coconut. Near full bodied. Flavor of whiskey, chocolate, heat and wood notes. Not dry, but not sticky. Might be a little bitter, but heat stands in for that. Whiskey finish.

From a 500ml bottle on 17/10/2021 (shared by Butz with thanks). Pours very dark brown with a medium head that disappears quickly. Has a gorgeous dark chocolate, dried fruit and whisky nose. The size is apparent on the first sip, which warms you instantly. Tastes of dark chocolate, raisins, dates and whisky, with notes of vanilla and cherry. Lots of warming booze at the back but still dangerously The mouthfeel is syrupy, the carbonation soft. A classy and really nicely balanced huge sipper.

Bottle @ home shared with Countbeer and Joes. Dark brown to black color with the slightest deep dark red-brown glare coming through when held into the light, medium sized light brown colored head that lasts for a short while and leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, bourbon, vanilla, overripe dark fruits, liquor soaked raisins. Taste malts, bourbon, alcohol, lightly roast in the background, caramel and vanilla notes lightly, a slight earthy dark malt flavor underneath. Initially very nice, but after a while the alcohol takes over. Very nice, but a sipper, heavy so a nice night cap.

Bottle shared by Stokelohoma Pours a thin black with a slight tan head. Lots of dry roasted aromas and flavors. The whiskey slant is modest and not over For such a big beer I expected a heavier palate. Smooth fairly ry roasty finish and a touch of the booze. Nice, but not the awesome I was expecting.

Tasting at Matt’s
Black color, sparse beige frothy head. Mild aroma of bourbon, dark malt. Smooth mouthfeel; moderate sweetness, hence easier to drink, but also quite strong booze feeling; very good chocolate flavor, with a touch of more roasted malts, and some of the sourness that goes with it; initially there is a feeling of molasses, but it goes away later; quite strong bourbon feeling.
Very nice.

Bottle. Sweet, tarry, bit of soy sauce, very sweet and smoky, umami, almost belacan going on. Soft, lively, quite barrelly. Complex dark sugars in waves... Light okinanwan black sugar.
