From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours a bright pale yellow with limited white foam. Aroma is citrus peel and spicy, with a nice lactobacyllus smell coming out when warmer. Body is fairly light and moderately carbonated. Taste is also moderately sweet, with very low bitterness. Finish is nice and short.

Apparently the new name of La Fourquette, the first beer from this brewery since 2004. Originally presented as an unspiced Weissbier (using malted wheat rather than unmalted as would be traditional in a Belgian style witbier), now - doubtlessly for commercial reasons - rebranded as a ’blancheke’ or witbier presented at Zythos Bierfestival 2017. Thick, very dense and creamy, egg-white head, pale straw blonde colour, cloudy with greenish tinge. Aroma clearly reveals a lot of soapy wheat with impressions of lemon zest, some coriander accentuating the soapiness, green plums, pear peel and, alas, a whole lot of DMS (cooked white cabbage). Sweetish, bit estery onset, hints of apple, peach and some banana with a sourish undertone of wheat turning explicitly soapy in the middle balanced with bready barley flavor, but in the end accentuated again by the coriander; refreshing citrus zest aspect in the end, ’livelier’ than the traditional curaçao (I have no idea how this was spiced), but the DMS returns retronasally as well. Refreshing in the mouth, with a somewhat different character than the classic Hoegaarden example, but the DMS bothered me.
