Our favorite porter with just a touch of the tropics. This Coconut Victory at Sea takes our popular Imperial Porter to another place. We added sweet roasted coconut to our robust porter brewed with Caffe Calabria coffee and vanilla, the perfect complement to this beer’s subtle roasty intensity. A favorite at our annual Victory at Sea Day, but it’s worth enjoying anytime you need to be transported.

Keg at Beer Run. Clear dark brown, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of strong coconut and roast. Taste is roast, chocolate, coconut. Medium bodied, boozy. Not the greatest.

Bottle: Poured a black color porter with a nice dark brown foamy head. Aroma of coconut is overpowering and totally dominate. Taste is also dominated by overpowering coconut notes with light black chocolate notes. Body is full for style with good carbonation with no apparent alcohol notes. Good in small quantity but coconut is still too powerful at the end of the day.

Bomber, Wine Warehouse. I'm asking for trouble... after a few Biggie Smoreses at our office holiday party I thought it'd be a good job to pop open a 10% bomber. Anyway, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet coconut, chocolate, vanilla. Flavor is dark chocolate, coconut, coffee, alcohol. A bit sweet but well done.

bottle, rated early 2017 - Black pour, tan head, aroma of roast malt and cocoa. Flavor is roast malt, coffee, cocoa, and coconut. Can't completely miss the alcohol at 10%, but it's not all that prominent. Full bodied. Very good.

At tasting. Bottle. Aroma of coconut, chocolate, creamy caramel, vanilla and mocha. Taste has lots of lucious coconut, milk chocolate, earthy vanilla, creamy caramel fudge, malt and some mocha. Delicious liquid bounty.

8 3 8 3 16 Bottle, shared at July THT, in front of Kwartje. Black color. Dense light brown head. Aroma’s: big cocos, tropical fruit (mango?), bounty. Retronasal it’s cocos, fruity, light vegetal (pepper it seems). Flavor is roasted, mango-sourish, light sweet. Medium bodied. I definitely get some peppery heat. Finishes with roast, bitter.

THT July, outside of Kwartje. Black with tan head. Dark roasted chocolate malts, mango, coconut, hazlenut, black pepper aroma without the spiciness. Big sweet and moderate bitter. Full body and soft carbonation. Soft and slick feel. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ballast Point Victory at Sea - Coconut on 26 Dec 2017 at 11:30 - Score: 8. Original review text: 4
