A true seasonal beer, as refreshing as it should be! Taste it in the summer, sitting at a terrace table. Originally, season beer was a beer brewed before the summer and intended for summer-season farmhands. It had low alcohol content and a marked bitterness that made it really refreshing.

We wanted to offer a truly seasonal Season with production limited in time. As Laurent Agache’s parents had created a cottage-type aperitif based on fresh elder tree flowers, greatly appreciated for family festivities, we have tried to use that flower for producing our Season. The elder flower, combined with the Sterling hop, was wonderful right from the first tests: the bitterness of the hops underlined by the flower brought a new and really nice freshness. The following year, shortly after the flowering of the elder tree, our Saison Cazeau was launched on the market.

C'est le printemps avant l'heure avec cette saison de Cazeau qui est une belle bière florale et désaltérante. Joli blond doré limpide en verre avec de surcroît une jolie mousse blanc cassé de 2 cm d'épaisseur. Le nez, floral et sur le houblon est frais et léger. L'attaque est sur un très bon équilibre malt/houblon. On y retrouve nos fleurs, mais également du miel, des épices et des agrumes. L'effervescence est un peu trop poussée tout de même, ce qui restreint légèrement la prise en bouche des arômes. La deuxième bouche monte sur l'amertume et en devient plus aérienne. La complexité y est très appréciable. L'arrière bouche sèche, manque légèrement d'équilibre avec une petite acidité. Son ampleur est cependant tout à fait correcte. Le final, sec également laisse quant à lui une bonne amertume florale en bouche. Mention spéciale pour l'alcool, qui avec 5% est réellement efficace. Un avant-goût de printemps, j'en entends les oiseaux chantonner...

Bouteille 330ml. Couleur orangée pâle voilée, mousse blanche abondante et aérienne. Arôme de levure, céréales, floral, pain frais, légèrement poussiéreux. Goût de levure, malt pâle et légèrement grillé, amertume moyenne, floral. Carbonatation élevée, corps moyen.

Helder geel bier met veel stevig schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig en fruitig met iets van citrus. Erg goede saison.

F: medium, white, average retention. C: pale gold, hazy. A: orange, dusty, cellar, spicy, floral, elderflowers, herbal, yeasty. T: light malty, orange peels, herbal, floral, yeasty, cellar, spicy, very dry on the palate, medium body and carbonation, really good balanced for the style, fully enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Carrefour market – St. Michel @ Etterbeek, Brussels.

Bottle pours out straw color topped with a white head. Nose has lots going on spice floral notes pepper some apple notes and light sourdough bread. Taste is more of the nice floral perfume hops spice and some fruit.

Bottle from Les Fleurs. Cloudy yellow with a solid head. Aroma of bread and yeast. Flavour is apple bread, dry yeast, wood on a light pepper finish.

At De Republiek, Bruges. Pours hazy dark yellow with a minimal, white head. The aroma contains hops, yeast, sugar, herbs and flowers. It tastes light flowery sweet and light herbal bitter, with a dry finish. Medium body, lively carbonation, slick texture. I like the flowery accent but it lacks some more character, whilst the carbonation is overdone...
