A true seasonal beer, as refreshing as it should be! Taste it in the summer, sitting at a terrace table. Originally, season beer was a beer brewed before the summer and intended for summer-season farmhands. It had low alcohol content and a marked bitterness that made it really refreshing.
We wanted to offer a truly seasonal Season with production limited in time. As Laurent Agache’s parents had created a cottage-type aperitif based on fresh elder tree flowers, greatly appreciated for family festivities, we have tried to use that flower for producing our Season. The elder flower, combined with the Sterling hop, was wonderful right from the first tests: the bitterness of the hops underlined by the flower brought a new and really nice freshness. The following year, shortly after the flowering of the elder tree, our Saison Cazeau was launched on the market.

Cloudy, yellow colored, medium creamy lasting white head. Aroma is of orange, elderflower, grains, some straw and coriander. Taste is a bit empty, malt, grains, some yeast and spices, bit of elder flower, but all of it quite weak. Dry finish, medium- bitterness. Light bodied, thin, moderate carbonation. (bottle, Magic Beer Room, Zagreb, CRO)

Shared with ogivlado. Thanks! Poured a murky dark yellow/ochre body with a small white head. Aroma... well.. completely elder, apart from a slight yeastiness. Nice actually! The taste... not as much. Bready, yeasty, light bitterness, light elder, potatoes. Boring, has something unappealing about it... Actually far worse than the three homebrewed saisons I’ve tried today.

Hazy pale golden colour, good frothy off-white head, slowly diminishing, patchy lacing. Strong fruity and floral aroma, elderberry, grain, yeast, citrus. Taste medium sweet and bitter, fruity, spicy. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, aftertaste bitter and fruity sweet with herbal and floral notes. A pleasant fresh and fruity Saison, good.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Poured into a Duvel glass. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a huge soapy head that hangs around throughout. Exquisite lacing that seems to cover the whole glass. Classic saison nose with lemon, saison yeast, corriander, grass and some light barnyard cheese-like funkiness. Medium-light body with lively carbonation. Lightly bitter and peppery on the palate...no sweetness with this saison. Pepper and lemon really stand out. It has a really nice dry slightly bitter finish.
