A true seasonal beer, as refreshing as it should be! Taste it in the summer, sitting at a terrace table. Originally, season beer was a beer brewed before the summer and intended for summer-season farmhands. It had low alcohol content and a marked bitterness that made it really refreshing.
We wanted to offer a truly seasonal Season with production limited in time. As Laurent Agache’s parents had created a cottage-type aperitif based on fresh elder tree flowers, greatly appreciated for family festivities, we have tried to use that flower for producing our Season. The elder flower, combined with the Sterling hop, was wonderful right from the first tests: the bitterness of the hops underlined by the flower brought a new and really nice freshness. The following year, shortly after the flowering of the elder tree, our Saison Cazeau was launched on the market.

Bottle. Cloudy golden beer with a strong white head. The aroma is quite grassy with dryness, and the flavour is dry and bitter with a degree of spices and a hint of sourness. Overall a nice dry and bitter beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Churchkey, 7/12/14. Pours a hazy amber color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of honey, spice, herbal notes. The taste is spice, nuts, herbal and vegetal notes, pale malt. Thin bodied, mild lingering spice.

Elderberry-flowered saison with rocky, yellowish white head and murky ochre colour. Aroma does reveal the typical fragrance of elderberry flowers (not uncommonly used in Belgian beers and liqueurs), except from bread, wheat, vanilla, jute, dried apricots, orange peel... Dried fruit in the onset, green apple, subdued citrus touch and equally subdued malt sweetness, bit bready but otherwise rather neutral, finish flowery and grassy, nothing really bitter, primarily malty and bit bready. Knowing this brewery’s style and being an amateur of the old saison style, I may have expected a bit more from this.

(Draught at Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels, 23 Oct 2013) Hazy yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of white bread, peaches and hay. Malty, fruity taste with grass, hay, peaches, grainy malt and a fairly dry finish with a spicy bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Quite tasty and very well balanced. Very nice and highly drinkable saison.

Nose is dry, yeasty, lots of flower, pepper, some grass. Appearance is classic saison. Taste very floral with the elderflower on the front foot, leading to peach and grass notes. Cereal, and bread evident as well. Finish is a little short, and mouthfeel a touch thin. A session Saison that bores as you progress through it.

Pours slightly hazy pale golden color with white head. Earthy and slightly funky aroma with some dough and grass. Flower and grass flavors with some biscuit malts and bread dough. Medium body with average carbonation.
