Huvila Arctic Circle Ale is a chestnut coloured ale with a malty/fruity odour. It tastes of dark fruits and caramel malts and finishes off with a nice bitter hop tail. It is brewed with both juniper twigs and a large dose of Finnish attitude. It is available on tap an in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland.

500 ml bottle from HWC. Pours a mostly clear mahogany color with a medium light beige head. A mostly sweet nose of toffee, candies, berries. An interesting flavor bordering in on a barley wine at times with big caramel and sweet malts, some distinct juniper. light bitter flavors, soapy at times, really interesting.

Bottle. Pours red-brown with a fast dissapearing off white head. Notes of juniper berries, cream. Quite heavy stuff! Spicy at first, then the maltiness takes over; caramel, burned syrup, dark bread. The hops has the character of red orange. Juniper is shown in the aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Smooth, creamy texture. Interesting but a bit too much in the long run.

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.3%, KV 18.5%, 60 EBU. Deep brown colour, moderate to low off-white head. Malty aroma, a bit "unfresh", notes of caramel and stale jam. Fairly sweet and malty flavour, better than the aroma, plenty of caramel and brown bread notes, the juniper is hard to identify. Very moderate hops, but there is a little bitterness in the aftertaste, along with notes of brown toast. Drinkable beer, but probably not something I will buy again.

0.5l bottle. This is a clear deep ruby one with a small quickly bubbly and lacing off-white top. On the nose I get a strong slightly burned caramel sweetness blended with sweet sticky red fruits. There is something undefined in here that I have a hard time pinpointing. Will keep it in mind while I'm drinking. Above average carbonated with a light oily mouthfeel. As expected it's on the sweet and malty side of the scale this. Kinda herbal. Wait, I think that might have been the unidentified aroma that I could not describe was. Yeah, it's kinda herbal and almost heathery. Nuts and more sweet caramel finishes this one off. Not sure what I think of it. Made me use the old brain for a second, but other than that this won't be a beer I will use any more time on. Well, except when I'll be posting it on ratebeer that is of course. And perhaps I will mention it to some of my friends at some point. I most likely have to remove it from my inventory as well, and I'll be trying to dodge it when I see it on the shelf's. Hmm.. This took up more of my time than I think it's worth! 08.02.2013

50 cl. bottle. Amber-red colour with no head, just a thin ring around the edges of the glass. Spicy aroma with the juniper very pungent. Caramel malts, bread, nuts, dark, dried fruits and alcohol. Taste is sweet. Medium body, flat carbonation. Spicy finish with rich malts and juniper. If you´re a kind of juniper-guy this is certainly the beer for you. Enjoyable, even if I wonder, the beer should be so little carbonated.

Small beige head. Clear deep dark red body with lazy carbonation. Earthy fruity juniper aroma with wooden caramelly notes. Deeply unusual aroma. Sweet-dryish earthy syrupy juniper taste with rye crisp bread notes. Fullish body. Dusty, slightly sharp mouthfeel, with light astringence. Dry roasty earthy rye aftertaste with spicy juniper and syrup notes. Really, really unusual, but good too. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly web order.)
