Huvila Arctic Circle Ale is a chestnut coloured ale with a malty/fruity odour. It tastes of dark fruits and caramel malts and finishes off with a nice bitter hop tail. It is brewed with both juniper twigs and a large dose of Finnish attitude. It is available on tap an in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland.

16.9 oz bottle. Pours deep deep brown with amber highlights; has a small beige collapsing head. Aroma consists of toasted bread, toasted marshmallows (on the burnt side), woodsy, overripe dark fruit--interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever smelled a beer quite like this before. Taste is malty sweet with a European bent; it’s reminiscent of Samuel Smith’s dark beers; finish is quite bitter, though. Mouthfeel is creamy, body thin to medium, carbonation soft. It’s good, but not exactly a masterpiece.

50cl bottle at F-hoone, Tallinn. Pours very dark brown with a reddish hue and a minimal off-white head. Malty aroma with caramel, some berries, probably juniper and some roasty notes. Also hints of chocolate and coffee. Sweet and malty with a light juniper flavour and a quite dry and bitter finish. Alcohol is well integrated. Mild and easy to drink, but quite tasty! (2012-11-18)

Thanks to Aaron for the pour - clear amber - moderate lace - the nose has an odd bubblegum note up front, but underneath there a some toffee/caramelized sugar notes and light juniper - the flavor is lighter than expected - not a lot going on - just some innocuous sweetness and moderate juniper bitterness - some light woody/earthy notes - light toffee - opens up quite a bit as it warms, with some dark fruity notes - decent brew.
