Creative minds are everywhere at Wicked Weed. This beer is the result of our first employee beer idea contest. Alanna and Holly came up with this idea and helped brew the beer. Brewed to embody every aspect of French Toast, we used maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla and real French Toast to create a beer suitable for the breakfast or dinner table.

Bottle from Whole Founds. Black pour, small beige head. Kind of clumpy. Aroma picks up as it warms, like the label says, French Toast. Vanilla first, some cinnamon, some maple. Taste leans towards the sweet, kind of slippery. Taste pales after the aroma, but is still good. Roast grains pretty well hidden in there.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet vanilla and maple aromas. Dry and sharp with bitter chocolate and espresso upfront turning to bready cinnamon before the lasting bitter charred twig finish.

Pub can. Pours opaque black, large creamy tan head, dissipates slowly, good lacing. Aroma is cinnamon, maple, cocoa, roast, hints of coffee. Flavor is light plus sweet, light plus bitter, Aunt jemima and cinnamon, noticeable vanilla, cocoa, coffee. Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel. Less sweet than most in this vein, which is not a bad thing. Tasty beer.

500 ml bottle courtesy of a friend, thanks Tyler! Black with tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, roast, light vanilla and cream. Tastes of dark chocolate, spices, roasted coffee. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Slightly overcarbonated. Don’t get too much of the maple.

Thank you! Can sampled @ Hopishop #3. Pours black with little mocha head. This is a beer that really needed to warm up, straight from the fridge it was a bit one-note cinnamon. As it warmed up, the cinnamon really started to blend into the rest & it became lovely. Nose is big cinnamon melting into some chocolate sauce, big vanilla & Cinammon toast (not really French). Taste is massive cinnamon when taken from the fridge but as it warms up, the cinnamon blends into the whole, into chocolate syrup, low maple, warming, Cinammon Toast, vanilla, mocha syrup. Cinnamon & chocolate syrup, low maple body. Haha, this is one fun beer. This delivers.

Black beer with light brown-beige bubbles. Thick and creamy head. The aroma has a big cinnamon and vanilla character. Moderate maple syrup. Pretty good hit of dark chocolate. Sweet caramel background. Taste is light and fairly sweet. Nice mix of caramel and chocolate with a good hit of cinnamon and vanilla on top. Not a ton of maple. Pretty solid flavor, but it doesn’t have the deep fudginess and maple character of the better maple stouts. Smooth and somewhat creamy feel. Solid enough.

Keg at the downstairs tasting room. Pours a dark brown with a medium sized frothy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, dark fruits, chocolate. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, maple, dark fruits. Medium bodied, lingering spice. Nice beer.
