An innovative style that matches roasty notes with fruity/hoppy ones. Dry hopped with Sorachi Ace, there are hints of coconut coming through the toastier flavours of the darker malts.

Cask at CP&K. It pours near black with a small light tan head. The nose is roasty, earth, cocoa, caramel, toast, dark fruit and light menthol. The taste is roasty, earth, pine, coffee, varnish, dried fruit, decent bitterness and resin with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, tasty and well-balanced. One of their best beers.

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail
Bottled APR 2013 - Pours pitch black with a sticky foamy light brown head. Aroma of slightly roasted malts, brown sugar, cola, loads of hops and notes of coffee and chocolate. Taste is smooth, slightly roasted with notes of hops, grass, coffee and chocolate. Finish is sweetish, hoppy and bitter with hints of roastiness and coffee. Okay, quite balanced black IPA.

Bottle bought at Real ale shop, Twickenham. A black coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Hoppy, malty, grapefruit aroma. Tastes of grapefruit, slightly hoppy, malty, hint of roast, slight bitterness. This was complex and very nice indeed. Need to purchase some more of this.
