Vestige is a saison brewed with smoked German malts and noble European hops. Formerly known as “Bowie,” this is our Schlenkerla Helles inspired farmhouse ale which incorporates a touch of beechwood smoked malt into the mash and is balanced by Saaz hops in the kettle. Blonde in color with notes of smoke, black pepper, lemon peel, and earth with a dry and refreshing finish.

A hazed blonde ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light peated notes, light anis, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with loads of cloves, light peated notes , aniseed, banana esters, spruce, very nice. On tap at L'autre oeil.

Sampled draft @ TCBW 2018. Pale golden, creamy white. Nose is mineral, sour, smoked, thin metallic, yoghurt. T > S very smoked, bacon, bit thing but fair smoked tea, could be stronger & more expressive, bark.

Tap at TCBW 2018. Pours golden with whiteish head. Aroma is hammy smoke, fruits, apricots, spices. Flavor is sweet and bitter, smoky ham, fruits, apricots.Overall: weird, but the combo of saison and hammy smoke work for me.

(Tap sample @ MBCC 2017 Blue session, Copenhagen) Pours clear yellow with a white head. Notes of grainy wheat and white bread, light to moderate smoke, yeast, touch of fruity sweetness, odd earthy/herbal/spicy/vegetal feel in the back end I can't place. Thin and watery overall, finishing dry and lightly bitter with more smoke, average carbonation. This did not really work for me.

Poured at Shelton Festival, clear gold with medium frothy white head. The aroma is floral, yeast, smoke, oak. Medium body, wheat, yeast, light dry smoke finish, good.

Draught @ MBCC '17 [ Blue Session ]. - Mikkeller Beer Copenhagen Celebration 2017, Øksnehallen, Halmtorvet 11, 1700 København V, Danmark. [ As Oxbow Bowie ].Unclear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, herbs, light smoke, moderate yeasty, fruity yeast, vegetables - herbal - floral. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, wheat, herbs, vegetable - herbal - floral, light smoked and funky. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. Keg at the brewery taproom - Portland. Pours clear yellow, lightly effervescent, with a creamy, white topping. The nose has a little dry smoke, some crispy wheat. Light sweet flavour with moderate husky bitterness, more drying smoke, hay, a little alcohol, wheat bread. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Well balanced close, with some further wheat bread, soft lemon, background smoke. Fun stuff. Well and drinkable.
