375ml bottle - Pours black with a diminishing small tan head. The aroma is chocolatey, sweet dark fruit, plum pudding, sweet spice, and bourbon. A sweet taste, boozy plum pudding, chocolate, dark fruit, spice, bourbon, and burnt brown sugar flavours with light drying sherry finish. Delicious!

12 February 2024. Bottled: 2/3/2020. Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde (presumably). Hazy black, thin, beige head. Strong aroma of fondant sauce, dark fudge, vanilla bean, maple syrup, brandy, fig, candied plum, cinnamon. Taste has sweet candied fig, plum & pear in a thick, syrupy malt body of dark chocolate, fudge, pecan nut and brown sugar with a hint of vanilla and cookie spices. Peppery hops in the finish, lingering bittersweet fondant, very vague herbal coffee, dried fruits and warming brandy-like alcohol. Full body, oily-sticky texture, soft carbonation. Luscious Dark Ale; a true comfort during dark nights.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Clapton Craft. Pours black with a dense, cascading brown cream topping. Medium to big sweet flavour with notes of toffee, chocolate, dried dark fruits, raisins, figs, dates, burnt marshmallows, oily vanilla, nips of bourbon. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly sticky and warming, great depth, impressively drinkable. Legit gear.

Bottle from Raynville Superstore. It pours like motor oil - darkest brown to black with a dissipating khaki head. The aroma is sweet, slick, oily, intoxicating, heady notes of bourbon, bourbon soaked oak, chocolate bourbons, vanilla, toasted coconut, toffee and whiskey fudge. The taste is slick, oily, thick, bitter - sweet, chewy, roasted malt, toasty, vanilla, toasted coconut, incredible amount of bourbon, bourbon soaked oak, toffee, honeycomb, vanilla fudge, warming booze, slightly charred oak, dried fruits and fruit cake with a slick, bourbon laden finish. Fulsome body, fine carbonation and slick mouth feel. Flavourful and quaffable. Noy too sweet either. Tasty.

Bottle at home, from Rad Bier online thanks to Danny-Boyo for the tip off on this want, 19/01/24. Black with a tan head that thins to a swirl. Nose is chocolate, dark fruit rinds, bourbon soaked oak, toffee fudge, spice. Taste comprises dark malts, brown sugar melt, molasses, spice, toffee fudge, chocolate, fruit cake mix, booze tunes. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Solid BA impy stout. Well balanced with nuanced barrel tones.
