A dense off white head on a luminous, unfiltered caramel coloured body. The nose is fresh and pungent, featuring tangerine rind, apricot, funky yeast, sweet caramel malt and some alcohol. A really slick, rich, dense and delicious quad. Candied fruit, rich caramel, Belgian yeast, tangerine, tangerine rind, sweet berries, spice, figs and apricots are all in play here. A touch of sourness keeps the taste experience fresh and refreshing.

5th September 2020
Almost clear amber beer, small pale tan head that dissappates quickly. Palate is light and fairly smooth, modest fine carbonation. The malts are light but have a pleasing smooth caramel and cream thing going on. Some floral and very mellow and ripe tangerine in the mid, blends in pretty well with the malts. Soft bourbon soaked fruits on the back end, along with a touch of savoury wood. Smooth and slightly soft finish. Hides the double digit abv well. Wasn't too sure about this at first, initial reaction was 'so what?' But it quickly wins you over with its pleasant gamut of flavours that are so very well integrated. One of those beers it would be so easy to drink way too much of before you realised what has transpired.

Pours a hazy amber with a one finger head. The aroma is of bourbon, caramel, malt, and yeast. The flavor is sweet and led by bourbon and caramel with oak and vanilla. The citrus is fairly subtle under the more dominate flavors. It's very good though.

Generally, I prefer quadrupels with no fruit enhancements. But any quad is worth trying. So here I am now with Avery Tangerine Quadrupel obtained in Houston by my son for me to sample. I have a 22 oz bottle with no born-on date that I can locate although the label does indicate an ABV of 11.2%. My Straffe Hendrik tulip glass gets the honor this time. The delivery is quite light for a quadrupel, an amber-copper liquid along with a slender skim of an almost-white head. I get a nose of yellow fruit, yeast and a hint of the sweetness to follow. The taste is decent, again it is not your traditional quadrupel. There is yellow plum, white bread, candied fruit, some booze and the barest indication of citrus. It is surprisingly thick and does give indication of the significant alcohol. There is plenty to like here.

650ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and small to average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, sulphureous head. Zesty, citrusy fruity and BA aroma, notes of tangerine, orange peel, Bourbon, vanilla caramel. Taste is sweet caramel malty, minimally bitter, zesty, fruity, BA notes of Bourbon, vanilla, caramel, a dry oaky touch, additional notes of tangerine, orange zest, some raisin and other dried fruit, whiffs of alcohol. Oily texture, smooth and soft palate, gentle carbonation. Not much Quadrupel character left due to the predominating BA and tangerine notes.

22oz bomber. I believe I've been sitting on this for a few years. Still holds up quite well. I was a little suspicious of a tangerine bourbon barrel quad, but it turned out quite excellent. Deep, sweet, rich malts accentuated by the sweet bourbon barrel tone. Tangerine is mild, just adding a nice balance. Really sublime, easy drinking for the ABV. A cool beer which certainly exceeded my expectations.
