Citrus and beer have made a great pair ever since the first lemon wedge was added to a frosty wheat beer. Here we expand on that tradition, melding a sour blond ale with the intensely aromatic zest of Buddha’s Hand citrons and the bracing tartness of Yuzu and Blood Oranges from Hamada Farms. Pair harmoniously with sushi or flakey white fish or contrast with earthy roasted root vegetables.

Bottle. Sun dried tomato, bread and then the citrus, sharp. Taste is good, citrus and sourness but not overpowering. Can't pick the specific citrus fruits, kind if blends into lemon. Nice though.

Keg at Hop Locker, Waterloo. Vinous vinegary but fruity aroma. Opaque gold. Frothy white head is on the thin side. Smoothly slides into sourness. Gains more sourness whilst remaining fruity. Medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Dry astringent finish. Lovely stuff. Despite the sourness happily knocking it back.

Sample at Kurtkeller 026: Summer-tastic 01 on 06/25/2017. Hazy golden color with a medium thin white head that evaporates steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of citrus, wood, yeast and straw. Medium body with a tart lemony character and flavors of floral yeast, malt and oak. The finish is moderately sour with a citrus and yeast aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Thin off white head immediately left a tiny collar on a finely effervescent, translucent, golden body. Zesty aroma of citrus, orange & lime. Medium to thin body. Finely carbonated. Crisp & clean. Dry on the back. Bitter citrus, vinous, orange, herbs & long sour finish.
