Blue Monk Special Reserve is a quadruple which has been aged for 3 years in red wine barrels from Château Haut Breton Larigaudière in Margaux! It is dark brown in color with a beige frothy head. It has an aroma and bouquet of a complex red wine, with a soft taste of spice, berries and black cherries. The flavour is enriched with touches of caramel, fine chocolate, toasted nuts and soft hints of smoke. The fruity elements of red and dark fruits comes from the aging in barrels fine from Château Haut Breton Larigaudière in Margaux. These flavors are adding a slight vanilla note and some refined wood tannins.

330ml bottle 2013 vintage pours cola brown with a small ring of brown head. Nose is sweet pit fruit roast malts peat smoke some belg candy sugar spice. Taste is more of the nice peat light smoke some pit fruit sweetness leather very complex.

(612 napja palackozták) Sötétbarna szín közepes, tartós, világosbarna hab. Karamelles, aszalt gyümölcsös, csokis, pörkölt malátás illat. Karamelles, aszalt gyümölcsös, csokis, kakaós ízvilág, pörkölt malátás alapon, határozott, barikolt vörösboros aromákkal. Hajszálnyit füstös, testes, közepesen szénsavas, közepesen keserű, amit főként a pörkölés ad. Érezni a korát, az ízek tökéletesen egymásba simulnak. Nagyon finom, tökéletes arányokkal rendelkezik. Igazi kortyolgatós sör.

33cl Bottle, thanks Henkie! Deep brown colour, creamy light-beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, malts, sweet red wine, oak, caramel, chocolate. Flavour is sweet, dark fruits, quite malty, light vinous, oak, some alcohol, caramel, some chocolate, very rich, soft bitter finish. Full bodied, creamy. Good stuff.

Bottle @ Blåbær 2017 release. Grab the train. Pours Black with a creamy beige head. Roasted, Dark dried fruit, yeast. Warming. Quite Good!

Aus der Flasche (Special Reserve 2013) 2016-10 das 1.Mal getrunken. Dieses schwarz-rote Monster kommt schon sehr durchgereift ohne wirkliche Süße eines Bieres dieses Bierstils daher. Der deutliche Einfluß des Weinfasses läßt neben den Tannineeinfluß, eine ganz leicht, säuerliche Johannesbeernote hinter dem Malzaromen aufkommen. Edles, aber auch komplexes Teil, das volle Aufmerksamkeit fordert! Vielleicht hätte ich eine andere Reihenfolge wählen sollen und nicht als erster Stelle öffnensollen. Naja ist ja noch was im Keller. Aus der Flasche (Special Reserve 2013) 2017-04 getrunken. Das letzte Mal wo ich das hier im Glas hatt sind gut 6 Monate her. Doch der damals sehr dominante Eichenfass- und Rotweineinfluss ist nun in den Hintergrund getreten und die typischen Malznoten sind hervorgetreten. Spannendes Bier auf hohen Nivau. Mal sehen wie es sich weiterentwickel wenn es noch weiterreift. 9/4/8/5/17 Aus der Flasche (Special Reserve 2013) im 2020-05 getrunken. Ich kann mich erinnern das dieses Struise einen sehr dominante Eichenfass- und Rotweineinfluss hatte, der sich nach einem Jahr 2016-2017 abgebaut hatte und schöne Malzaromen das Bier dominierten. Doch was ist das? Räucherspeck? Ja über dem deutlichen malzigen Charakter wird diesen Bier nun von sein kräftingen Aromen von geräucherten Schinken dominiert. Nicht das war ich mir gewünscht hatte im Bier, aber super spannend diese Reifung. 7/4/7/5/13

Bottle from vintage 2013. Dark brown colour, almost black, head quickly disappears. Aroma is much raisin, wood, cane sugar, a bit of red wine and barrel. Alcohol does not disturb. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Fizzy carbonation. Very good.

From a 33 cl bottle at Rose Red in Bruges it is a dark Bicol a color with a tan heady he aroma is dark black licorice and raisins. The taste is smoked with hints of raisins and prunes and has a deep rich licorice finish.
