You know the deal with the name ‘Modern Times’? It was an experimental utopian community that lived a brief, brilliantly crazy life in the mid-19th Century. Totally by chance, our brewery is located in the San Diego neighborhood of Point Loma, which was founded as a Theosophical utopian community called “Lomaland” in 1900. So that’s a thing. This beer tastes like friendly, sophisticated sunshine. It’s a Belgian-style farmhouse ale.

Brilliant tight white head stayed on a finely carbonated, hazy, dark lemon coloured body. Fresh aroma with lemon, spices, citrus, yeast & outdoors. Medium bodied, airy on the palate & sharper on the back. Cloying. Taste is much as the aroma with bitter/sweet citrus, yeast, spice & quite hippy with a light pepper finish.

Poured from the tap. Clear golden yellow with minimal white head. Very mild, almost watery, light yeast and citrus with hint of grass. Would like to try this again because I'm not sure if it's an issue with the bar's taps.

473ml can. Pours a cloudy blond with a large, frothy, long lasting, white head that laces nicely. Aroma of wheat, lemon peel, floral, pepper and yeast. Sweet flavour of wheat, orange, lemon, corn, bread, floral, pepper and yeast with a dry, bitter grass finish. Light to medium body with a smooth, oily texture and average carbonation. Nice.

Can. Pours a bright golden yellow pour with a mountain of white head. Very clear, but clouds up a touch with the last pour. Aroma is a light earthy note with some yeast. Tastes of lightly sweet fruity yeast, some earthy floral and dusty farmhouse flavors.

Can from Bonanza Gift Shop. Extremely pale golden with high airy head. Lemony, citrus aroma, grains in the aroma. Taste is also light, lemons, grassy, mild savory notes. Kind of sweet too. Sweetness lingers for a while, tanginess on the tongue.

Can @ Benzai, 10 cl sample. Slight hazy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of slight spicy yeast, bit earthy hop, bit flowery. Slight grassy bitterness, bit spicy and peppery yeast. Very clean saison, which makes it a bit boring.
