To see the hop cone up close, we zoomed in microscopic, and found a hi-res view. In Hi-Resolution, the hop optic was magnified; our perception, fully amplified. It’s microscopic. It’s telescopic. It’s off-topic. It’s Mad Science.

Clear deep orange beer, irregular off-white head, little stable, adhesive. aroma: it's resinous all right (if that's what the name is hinting at)! Citrus, orange peel and a bit fruity as well. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very sweet start, fruity, some citrus, hoppy, bit resinous, soft bitterness. Aftertaste: citrus, orange peel, sweet and sugary malt base underneath, with sweet ripe exotic fruits, gentle sourness and a nice hoppy ending. Lovely one!

Can. Resiny, rather syrupy nose, some caramel and oranges. Orange color, tall and fine head. Flavor is alcohol, resin, sweet and syrupy malts, oranges, moderate bitterness. OK, but this kind of sticky huge thing doesn’t do it for me any more.

Can. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity grapefruit hoppy weak piney aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy bitter caramel finish.

Aroma is caramelized hops mixed with sweet pine. Onslaught of sweet hops on the palate and is quite astringent across the board.

Can, 12C. Just hazy golden amber with a puffy white head. Subdued aroma of grapefruit, pine, kumquats, caramel, grappa. Syrupy, lowish carbonation. Very sweet with crashing pine, citrus and crude grapey booze. Bitterness is sufficiently loud that I can’t really tell whether there’s any flavour to the sweetness. The finish is a gradual fading of sweetness and the dull tooth-rattling hum of pine. Really only tried this because I liked Resin more than expected. This is not my sort of thing at all.

Spritzerhaus, Brooklyn tap ($8): Pours opaque orange with a white head. Aroma is a whole lot of grapefruit and sweat tropical fruit. Taste is bitter. Body is thick and heavy. Taste is quite bitter and just a little bit sweet. Alcohol is very well covered by the ridiculous amount of hops and malts. Surprisingly good.

Can: Poured a hazy super bright orangey color ale with a large pure white foamy head with great retention and some excellent lacing. Aroma of resinous hops with light citrus notes is quite intense. Taste is also dominated by resinous, citrus and huge floral hoppy notes. The malt backbone can be distinguished with quite a bit of residual sugars. Body is full with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I really enjoyed the hops assault on this monster but this beer would be better with a little bit less sweetness.

12 oz. can from Top Shelf Brews. Clear orange gold color. Aroma is caramel/ toffee sitting on top of old grapefruit juice and pine resin. This doesn’t make me what to drink it.
Flavor is has plenty of resin, which you would come to expect. Floral notes and a boozy punch in the face on the back end. Sweet and boozy, reminds me of a young barley wine. The texture is sticky and syrupy sweet. Bitterness doesn’t linger long because of all the sweet, sticky malts. Big boozy DIPA’s are not something I reach for on a regular basis, I don’t know, you be the judge.
