Bottle split in Craigs room, Borefts Day 2 after party tasting, 27/09/14 thanks to the person who brought this number. Lightly hazed orange with moderate off white spotting and edgework. Nose is citric peel, grainy, spice, caramel. Taste comprises tangy citrics, lemon zest, straw, light spice, orange squash. Medium bodied, spritzy and overcarbed, semi drying close. So so, not much going on certainly when you take the 8% ABV into account!

Spice ale since 2010 with the garlic that typifies Jessenhofke but also fresh herbs grown by Sanguisorba in Ranst, a well-known brewery supplier of herbs and spices. The herbs in question are salad burnet, hyssop, thyme, savory and myrte. Snow white, regular head, misty peach blonde colour. Complex ’herbalness’ in the nose as can be expected, difficult to distinguish one from the other even though I am familiar with their aromas, very flowery, some candi sugar, some fruits and, as in the other Jessenhofkes, no noticeable garlic. Sweetish spiciness in the mouth and, much to my surprise, there it is: a faint hint of garlic in the background. Light mouthfeel, sweetish caramel malt base, dry finish with the spices further developing alongside a herbal hoppiness. Interesting if you are into spice beers.

Bottle from Douberd, many thanks.. Hazy Golden color with medium white head. Malty aroma with fruity notes. Perfumed malt, harsh bitterness in finish.

Bottle. Aroma spicy with light citrus fruits, light bubblegum. Rounded and inviting. Taste is rather sweet, both spicy and malty. A bit weird, not working with me. Finish turns somewhat tart. I am conflicted about this one.

Aroma is herbal with stewed vegetables. Flavour is unpleasantly herbal with disgustingly bitter, garlic-esque lingering aftertaste. Why?

Tripel with lots of weird herbs and spices. Nice, but considering they poured an entire garden in the beer, I expected more taste.

Hazy orangy golden. Grassy, malts, some yeast, alcohol. A hint of peach and some spicy and burnt notes too. Medium bodied, slightly thin mouthfeel and lots of alcoholpresence. Hmmm, I think the alcohol is too much, and I don’t care for the burnt notes, but otherwise a decent tripel sort of beer.
