This mythological beer emerges from the depths of our brewery every winter. Made with Cascade, Centennial and Simcoe hops and six organic malts, “A-Bomb” has a complex floral, spicy and citrus hoppiness backed up by just the right amount of malt sweetness. 7.3% ABV, 17 deg. Plato, 70 IBU.

Tap at Hopworks Bike Bar, Portland - 07/11/12. Clear mid amber with a thin off white head that clears to the edges. Pale malt nose, light pine, some hops. Tastes of caramel malt, pine, hops, light grapefruit tones. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Above average, drinkable but nothing special.

Heavy malty notes with an unbalanced addition of hops. The bitterness and strong hops masks and spices that may have been added. I think HUB Rise Up Red is a much better ale along the same lines.

22oz bottle from Elise, split with Anndiesel. Deep amber-brown color, looks unfiltered. Respectable beige head, doesn’t fade. Piny sweet aroma, some woody amber malt maybe. Has a rye-like feel, with a big, steady hop backbone. Well balanced, a very nice and unique Winter Ale for sure. Some tropical hoppiness, a decent amount of depth, but comes together really well. Good stuff.

Golden-amber. Earthy, caramellly with lots of earthy, piney hops. Earthy and piney on the palate as well. Slightly strong-tasting (boozy) winter ale, but for the most part has nice balanced and is quite clean.

Kind of tastes like an amped up ESB or a mild barleywine - quite sweet, but with potent herbal and woody hops and peppery alcohol - a bit of caramel and toffee - spicy finish - a bit sweet, but okay.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Hazy amber color. Very nice aroma of fruity hops. Good caramel flavor, malt, quite dry in the beginning; strong bitterness with some bitter orange fruitiness. Very good.

Massive citrus hop on the nose with good malt after warming. Pours a hazy copper with an off white head including many large bubbles. Plenty of hops on the taste and nice malt backbone. Mouthfeel is slightly thin but coats slightly. A little medicine on the late palate.

Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. Pours a clear dark copper color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, fruit and malt. Medium body with an evenly balanced hops and malt profile. Floral and piney notes. The finish is fruity with a lingering fresh hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
