Pour is a hazy brown with a average white head. Aroma is oily hops and sweet caramel malts. Flavor is a decent dark malt with some resin hops. Finish is toffee caramel malts with pine and a bit of mint. Decent winter warmer but I was expecting something even hoppier then I got. It’s still a hoppy ale with lots of malt backbone

Wonderful citrus/grapefruit aroma. Clear amber with thick fluffy head. Mildly bitter (again with more grapefruit) melds perfectly with the malt. This is a great beer.

Hmmm. A tough one to rate for me. Pours a darkish copper color with a small white head. A huge bursting nose of heat and bourbon. Like a shot. The flavor is also a bit harsh for me, I like BA beers, but this has some solvent like flavors and huge heat, but also nice caramel, vanilla, wood, sweet sugary malts. Good overall. Very hot.

On tap at the Bike Bar. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A big sweet toffee, caramel and fruity hop nose. The flavor is more with spices, caramel, light dust, some orange peel, balanced. Quite flavorful and very smooth. Excellent.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear reddish copper color with a nice 1-2 finger dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange rind, orange zest, pineapple, pine, caramel, floral, grass, bread, honey, and hop earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop notes; with a great hop/malt balance. Taste of big grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, pine, orange rind, caramel, floral, grass, honey, bread, and light earthy pine spiciness. Fair amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pineapple, pine, caramel, honey, bread, floral, grass, and light earthy pine spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of hop flavor; with a great hop/malt balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice red ale. Very nice balance and complexity of hop flavor with great malt balance; and dangerously easy to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

16 oz can courtesy of bvc. 199-501 12_362 HAPPY 2013 stamped on the bottom of the can. The pour is a clear copper brown with a 1/2 inch tan head that falls pretty quick. The aroma is caramel malt, faint roast, pine and citrus peel hops and an overall herbal character. The taste picks up on the hops, bright pine resin, floral, then the grainy toffee caramel malt, there is a dry bitter off-sweet finish which also features the herbal. The palate is medium bodied, bright natural carbonation, and a mineral pine dry finish. This is a tasty beer, thanks for grabbing it for me Brandon.
