The secrets to the perfect, fresh taste of Kasztelan Unpasteurised is the omission of pasteurisation and the original recipe from the Sierpc Brewery.
Smak Kasztelana narodził się w Sierpcu. Nasze piwo warzymy korzystając wyłącznie z naturalnych, wyselekcjonowanych składników: polskiego słodu jęczmiennego, dwurzędowego jęczmienia, krystalicznie czystej wody i starannie dobranych odmian chmielu. To właśnie ich umiejętne połączenie wraz z doświadczeniem naszych piwowarów nadaje Kasztelanowi smak uczciwie uwarzonego piwa.

Clear pale to medium golden colour, good foamy white head, recedes slowly, light lacing. Aroma sweet malts, caramel, grain, orange peel. Medium sweet and light bitter taste, malty, caramel, grainy. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, peppery notes. Light to medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; okay.

Floral and sweet. Clean. A little metal. Good industrial lager. Carlsberg yeast. Nice work.

Can from the Polish Delicatessen opposite The Barum Top Inn, Halifax. Tawny golden coloured with no head and a light carbonation. Has a bit of a strength to it, with an ordinary lager nose and taste with a bubble-gum sweetness to the latter.

Aug. ’15. A 0.5 l can, thanks to Marko! It poured clear golden body with medium sized head that went down quickly. Light lemon or apple aroma, some yeast and bread. Flavor was lightly sweet, apple, bread, watery anyway. But with a touch of alcohol somehow. Quite thin, not so much for the style. Fine herbal and yeast notes in the short finish saved it a little bit although it was still boring. Interesting, but only that.

50cl can from random store in Old Town, Kraków. Pours golden color, deep, with a thin white head. Apples in aroma, sweetness, dusty malts. Sweet malty, slightly buttery flavor, some apples also here. Nothing to write home about exactly.

Small white head doesn’t last. Clear coppery body with carbonation. Oily grainy aroma with vague fruity notes. Sweetish floral oily taste with vegetal notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel, somewhat fizzy. Dryish floral fruity aftertaste with vegetal mealy notes. It’s not too bad, but not good, either. (0.5l can from some immigrant shop.)

Can, from the local convenience shop, that was a shithole, but is now well run, with lots of Polish beers to go at. Anyhow, this one is clear, bright gold. Not much head. Nose is grainy and sweet. Privet leaf hop. Taste is much the same. Clean enough. Doesn’t have an artificial sweetener thing. Finish is a tad sweet, but overall it’s pretty drinkable. Especially at 85p a pop!

50cl exclusive beer from plesk Polski all you can find Polish-Russian-Ukrainian shop around St Gilles. Shared with 77ships and Kraddel.
