First batch bottled in 2008, shared by Mortlach. 8 years old. Thanks. Dark caramel, no foam. Nose: powerful aroma of red fruit jam, macerated fruit, dry figs. Nice. Mouth: far too flat, oxidation did not work well, gone cola. This bottle has not aged well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Cloudy dark brown, almost flat. Vinous nose with coffee and black pepper. Sweet with a distinct woody tartness, full bodied with well rounded mouthfeel. Tart vinous wood dominates. Port and dark rye bread. Despite it’s size the malt character is never bold, just rich. A slight warmth in a mid bitter finish. Balanced and relaxed, yet with a hue WOW-factor.

Bottle shared by Jack, thanks! Pours a very dark brown with a bubbly brown head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma is full of oak with a lot of toffee with some sweet dark grains and a bit of caramel. Flavor combines earthy sweet grain and oak with a good amount of toffee and a hint of caramel.

Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ “Vini Birre Ribelli 2015”. Dark brown, black, little mocha bubbles. Nose is big cacao, clear oxidation, vanilla, candy, chocolate, warming, spirit,… Taste sweet caramel, mocha, syrupy licorice, very warming, spirit, candy, vanilla, oak, warming, quite a bit oxidation, sugar, rich chocolate, syrup,… Body is oxidation & soft carbonation. Really good, great rich chocolate truffle etc. taste, warming, big vanilla etc. Oxidation is a bit too much but some Italian breweries do seem to have an affinity & love for oxidation, it does work well here, it could have improved a touch more even had they dialed it down a bit.

Mini bottle shared by Leighton. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is soft, toasted sugars, toffee, fruit cake, Eccles cake, jammy berry and wood. The taste is smooth, rich, toasty, fruit cake, raisin, sultana, chewy malt, malt acidity, jammy berry, sugary fruits, wood and alcohol warmth throughout the finish. Rich and warming. Perhaps too much alcohol presence, but nice nonetheless.

Bottle shared in Canaan, NH. Picked up in Rome. Pours unclear brown with a slight, foamy tan head. Quite a bit of wood on the nose, leathery fruits, earth. Medium to heavy sweet flavor, lots of meaty, leathery fruits, hearty bread, tangy herries, toffee. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, lots of toffee and jammy fruits, faint cocoa, earth. Boy, this is some heavy duty stuff. But it’s also really damn tasty, and actually pretty drinkable. Wonderful stuff.
