Prairie Gold is a dry, highly effervescent saison fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, lactobacillus and 2 strains of brettanomyces. This beer highlights the various yeasts and bacteria used to make it. Lemon, pear, white wine grapes, and a touch of funk dominate the flavor and aroma in this champagne like beer.

Hazy yellow-orange body, thin-medium off-white head. Oxidized nose; cardboard and breadiness; grassy, herbal, and tart. Tart body; grassy/bitter too but mostly sour, also impacted by oxidation and cardboardy notes.

0.5l bottle. GUSHER! Totally drowned my kitchen sink this bad boy. What I got over in the glass is quite nicely glowing and yellow golden. It's really cloudy and the big foamy gusher head fades into a thin island. Ok it's a gusher, but looks OK and it smells absolutely divine. Super lemony zesty and brett sour with lots of sour fruits. White currants, sorrel, gooseberries and sour apricots. Lovely on the nose! Tastes a little milder. A lot milder. Surprisingly dry and non-sour actually. Feels like it has been over carbonated and that the bubbles have just collapsed. Body vise it's mild oily. Salty wild berries, some currants and gooseberries - the non sour kind. Dryish mineralish finish and tail. Good one, but had much higher hopes for this one unfortunately. 27.03.2016
