Smoked Imperial Stout brewed with smoked malt, molasses and brown sugar, aged in oak bourbon barrels. Somber and smoky, BARFLY saunters into the room slowly. Thick smoke. Cool swagger. Good wood. Too much brass. Sticky leather. Slow glances. Lingering looks. A bit of sass. The only thing that didn’t make the glass was maraschino cherry. Bring your own and wear out your welcome. Part of the 2010 Pop Ten Series. December 2010.

Tasting at Papsø’s
Black color; small brown head. Nice aroma, roasted malts, biscuity, with leather. God body strength; very good flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, some cookies, leather, tar; a bit salty too; medium sweetness, strong bitterness, and pleasant alcohol warmth. Excellent.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Masterski. Pours an incredibly pitch black with a small brown head. Sweet and salty heavy roast aroma. Very solid body, carbonation is low, thick and syrupy, sweet roast, quite some raisins and other dark fruits. There’s and underlying yeastiness. Warming alcohol finish. No real smokiness though. 180911

Bottle thanks to hophead84. Pours with a black body with a medium sized, lasting tan head. Aroma is very strong, rich, vinous, smoke, dark fruits, chocolate and a hint of windex or some sort of chemical in the finish. Taste is big, very vinous, rich, dark fruits, and milk chocolate. Tons of raisins, dates and light smoke. Big bodied, creamy, heavy and intense. Interesting.

Bottle at the Triple Rock Sour & BA Fest. Pours black with a dark tan smear; though others got a bit of head. Interesting cooked berry smell over some sour chocolate and burnt malt, plus oak. Very full bodied. It’s sweet - like current jam - with chocolate, tobacco, burnt malt and it’s lightly sour. Very tasty and complex.
