Draught @ Brewdog Helsinki Beavertown tap takeover. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, wood, ash, licorice, hints of leather, syrup, coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is sweet, smooth, roasty and woody with hints of licorice, leather, syrup, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and berries. Finish is smooth, roasty and sweetish with some lingering woody notes, hints of smoke, licorice, coffee and chocolate. Quite tasty. Reminds me of some of Evil Twin’s imperial porters with just a touch of smoke.

Can from the baron of bottles, side of the south, Burgh of the Edin. Pours jet black with a massive tan head. Smoky, leathery nose, tar, treacle. Taste is more of the same. A big, smoky beast of a beer.

Can from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown pour with a creamy tan head, aroma has sweet chocolate and smoke, taste has creamy chocolate, light smoke, dark cherry, slick mouthfeel,

On tap at BrewDog Clerkenwell. Black beer lasting tan head. I mean it’s a big huge beer. Aroma of chocolate sponge with a little tangerine flavour maybe from the whisky big but easy drinking chocolate. Rather impressive. Some tangerine from the whisky but the barrel ageing is subtle. Good impy stout. Huge impact and good likeability. I liked it.
