Can. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, smoke, roasted malt, and wood, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Can from Bitter Virtue. It pours jet black with a small white head. The aroma is rich roast, liquorice, smoked action, ash and charred wood. The taste is rich bitter, ashy, charred wood, umami, smoked fish, liquorice, earth, warming alcohol, earth and pepper with rich, smoked finish. Medium - full body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Decent smoked porter action. Drinks lover than the abv.

Can from Oddbins Beer Shop, Blackheath. Black pour with a light tan head. Lots of coffee in the aroma with a spot of dark chocolate, ash and raisin in there too. Flavours of dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, black pepper, raisin, smoke. Smooth, boozy mouthfeel. Long, dry-sweet finish. Very nice indeed.

Opaque black color, tiny off-white head. Aroma has peat, toasted malts. Medium-bodied. Peaty, whiskey-like flavor. Toasted malts, smoked strong porter. Somewhat straightforward.

330 ml. can @ Gollem in Antwerp. Pours black with a big mocha head that quickly colapses & leaves only a lasting layer. Nose is thick leathery soy sauce smoke with herbal & thick licorice notes mixed with some blue berry fruitiness & sweetness. Sweetness is both licorice & light fruits. Very thick syrupy taste & body. Strong licorice smoke & leathery soy sauce, herbal, blue berries sludge mixed into it, black chocolate, mocha sludge, herbal smoke, very thick syrup, licorice with a dash of moles. Interesting & enjoyable beer. Differs from most smoked beers in that it doesn’t have any bacon-like notes. Nice & fun beer, very nice but not exception. Doesn’t really justify the very hefty price-tag (granted I was in a bar but it was noticeably far more expensive than the other Beavertown offerings that they had).
