We are from the city that invented the skyscraper. We constructed our Urban Pale Ale on a balanced malt backbone, so the citrus hop aroma and crisp flavor can stand tall.

I’ve never wanted to rate a Goose Island beer and think about how they are owned by AB, but with this beer, that’s what happened. First it was a nice enough hop nose, bright citrus, a touch grassy. But the malts were dull, toffee and bread but also a touch buttery, lightly vegetal and overall extremely reminiscent of the old Bud American Ale from a few years ago.

Bottle from Foods Plus, Plaistow NH. Aroma is hoppy, slightly resin, herbs. Appearance is clear golden, lightly sparkling, with small white head, poor retention and no lacing. Taste is contrary to aroma--more malty and moderately sweet. Palate is medium body with lively carbonation at the tip of the tongue and long mildly bitter finish. Overall, not a heckuva lot going on but slightly above average.

Bottom of the can is stamped reads \"20Nov14\". I’m thinking that is a born on date.
This was poured into a pint glass. Keeping it proper.
The appearance is a clear bronzed yellow color with a one finger white rocky foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Nice slightly sticky lacing graces the glass.
The smell had a sweet grassy ordeal of malty covered hops. Bitterness is mostly subdued but shows a subtlety of slight \"pine\" aroma. It’s really hard to pick out but it’s somewhat there.
The taste was sticky sweet through the malts. There’s a a semi - clean sweet grass aftertaste leading to a sticky finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was mainly subdued but still good for its style.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good APA, a bit maltier than expected but then again I did have one from November of 2014. I’ll look for fresher next time.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL, enjoyed at home after a sleepy work day. Also enjoyed while watching St Vincent at the Chicago Theatre. It tasted better yesterday, maybe it was fresher. Appearance is a darker amber with a thin white head. Aroma is mostly caramel malt and hops. Taste is ok, there are some off flavors I don't care for, mostly caramel malt and hops. Just a meh beer.

Draft. Clear amber body with a frothy, off-white head. Nose of citrus, toasted grain (hint of raw grain), pine, floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of citrus and toasted grain. Solid (except for some unclean grainy malts).

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark gold with a finger of frothy white head. Aroma of light citrus. Taste is light bitter, follows aroma. Light bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Not bad. If it wasn’t made by BudIsland, I’m guessing people would rate it higher. Not mind blowingly awesome by any means, but very solid.
