It’s an unassuming road leading to the priory. Here, off the corner of two intersecting roads, dedicated monks have been making beer for over 150 years. It’s always been a simple life — the kind that requires they brew only enough to sustain the activities of their monastery. In the silence of passing seasons, they pray, they brew and retire in solitary existence behind the sheltering walls. They live a most interesting life. Most likely one we couldn’t sustain.
Nearby, each summer, the trellised fields spring to life as rows of resinous green cones are trained toward the heavens. Rumor is some monks love these hops and being surrounded by budding yellow aromas and the leafy pungent fields inspired them. Since we aren’t sensible enough to locate our brewery near hop fields, we can only offer this blond ale in celebration of our Abbey brethren and their steadfast Devotion.

Mild apple and lemongrass nose. Very clear amber, medium lacy yellow head. Dry apple, light funk, mild twigs. Quaffable, light body. Nice subtleties, not boring, but just too weak.

750ml bottle. Minimally cloudy golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Cautious, unspecific, fruity aroma has notes of green and unripe fruit. Taste is dry and sourish grassy, a touch of hay, almost undetectable hints of yeast. Fresh, refreshing, easy to drink. Underachiever.

18/III/13 - 75cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - bottled: VI/07/12 (2013-251) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!
Little cloudy orange beer, irregular creamy white head, unstable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of oranges, tangerines, bit spicy,s weet malts, hay, some overripe fruits. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: pretty spicy, star anise, some citrus, ripe fruits, oranges, little bitter. Aftertaste: spicy, citrus, pretty bitter, orange peel. Very nice, would call this a saison, can I?

75 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori. Rated on 23.07.2009
Aroma has citrus, some earthy notes and hints of grassy hops. Flavour has somewhat soapy citrus, slight tartness, caramel and saison‐like yeasty notes. Also some harsh grain and grassy hops here. A disappointment from LA.

750 ml bottle from Ryan and Casey Liquors Greenfield, MA. Bottled on 1/10/2012, just over a year old. Light hazy amber like color in my Allagash Tulip. Smell has a light malt sweetness. Flavor has pale malt, fresh cut grass and light pepper spice. A very subtle Belgian yeast note. Held up very nicely after a whole year of sitting. However, a very light sour note does show up in the finish. This happens to be rating number 100 from the State of California!!
