Arrived at my table with a thick tan head that held until nearly the end of the tulip. Aroma is huge coffee(like grind coffee in a grinder) solid amount of roasted malts and just a trace of bourbon. The flavor is a reflection of the aroma with a nice lingering warming after the sip. The over 11 % ABV can not be hidden in this monster! The mouth feel is medium leaning on the thinner side but do not worry.... The coffee and bourbon notes make up for it. My kind of stout, the coffee works so brilliant with the bourbon. Love it

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 3/27/2015. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light dark fruit, light booze, and oak/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light dark fruit, and oak/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of bourbon/oak spiciness and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light dark fruit, and oak/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness and malt/barrel balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly bready/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged coffee stout. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; and smooth to sip on for the ABV. This tastes very similar to Heresy in the general flavor profile of the beer overall(with more added coffee notes). Pronounced barrel character that is not overdone. A highly enjoyable offering.

This was poured into a snifter. Bottle dated 03/24/15 and 03/24/17; born on and best by dates.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin tan head that dissipated practically immediately. Barely any lacing stuck, what there was slid right on into the beer.
The smell had a nice sweet to roasty blend of chocolate, coffee, light amount of vanilla and hot bourbon.
The taste was sweet, roasty, a slight bitter from the coffee with the bourbon sweetly combining in a hot boozy way. A light sweet sticky bourbon aftertaste leading to a sweet sticky finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium to heavy on the body with a mostly sipping quality about it. The carbonation was there as a Double Stout and it has a hot boozy feel rolling over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good Double Stout. Definitely could be aged and has the potential to be a top beer comparable to KBS. I look forward to aging one of these.
