This special lager is brewed at the end of August, with more malt and extra hops. The hops from our own region (Erembodegem) give the beer a nice bitter aftertaste. During the maturing of more than 2 months, the beer has matured naturally and all aromas have developed. Thanks to the natural saturation, the beer has a very fine pearly carbonation like champagne and a nice, dense and stable foam head. The result is a unique, bottom fermented blond beer that distinguishes itself from the sweet dark Christmas beers.

(33cl bottle) Slightly unclear, pale golden colour with a big and dense, slightly cream-coloured foamy head. Slightly dusty malty and minimal acidic and subtle citrus-fruity aroma with a touch of barnyard and sour dough. Mildly sweet-bitter flavour with a whiff of acidity, light to medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Soft pale malt-character with light fruity undertones of citrus, grapefruit; almost dry, slightly bitter and faint woody hoppy finish (17.IV.09).

Very hoppy, fruity, citrus aroma. Pleasant and uplifting. Light malts, with a bit of honey and sweetness and just a bit creamy. Light gold color, slightly cloudy, with a tall head. Lightish malt, creamy, a bit of butter, lots of hops. Citrus and other fruits galore. Strong yeast presence. A light body. Light, fruity, tasty. Not what I expected for a winter beer. Would be better in summer. Very flavorful, though, and original.

Bottle, 5.2%. Violent gusher. Bretty aroma, quite sour. Hazy golden colour. Big stable white head. The flavour is quite malty with a distinct sweet brett note. Very high carbonation. Tastes OK, but I wonder if it is supposed to be like this. By no means a pilsener.

Bottled. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of hops - very plain. The flavor is sweet malty wth light notes of citrus and hops - very plain - and nothing cristmas like here - weird.

Bottle, shared by yespr. Yellow, almost clear pour, with a big, white head. Gushed out of the bottle. Fruity-sour aroma and flavor. I guess Brett or whatever it is wasn’t intended in this lager beer. Medium to thin body, astringent mouthfeel. Some bitterness in the finish, else it is just sour. Strange or gone bad? (071005)

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Pours an almost clear, pale golden with a huge, shaving foam style head. Mysterious, leathery, Brettanomyces-like aroma. Fairly light in body with lightly sweet, pale malts, citrusy notes and a dry, lightly biter finish. Very odd - Brett notes without acidity. But interesting. Slaghmuylder makes really odd seasonals. 051007
