Bottle. Black with a fluffy light tan head that fades to a coat fairly quickly. Aroma has moderate roast, chocolate syrup, cherries, some chicory. Light bodied, a bit silky. Drier than expected but with chocolate, mild roasted barley and earthy notes. Moderate bitterness. The bittersweet chocolate grew on me. Slightly prefer the Brixton Porter, but this in another solid and very drinkable one.

33cl bottle @home. Pours dark brown with small creamy lasting light brown head. Excellent lacing, no particles detected. Average malts, roasted and burned aromas, coffee, maybe hints of mocha. Light hop presence, mostly herbal character. Average alcohol, hints of dark dry fruits, plum, prune, date. Oily texture, light sweetness, moderate bitterness. Reminds me of cheap red wine. Peppery and bitter dry finish, slightly acidic, some sourness reminding of heavy coffee aftertaste, slightly soapy. Cant’ tell it’s a bad one, but certainly not a characteristic example of its kind. I’ve had much better ones. I wonder how the original retired recipe would taste like.

Röstiger, malzig herber Beginn. Vollmundiger, leicht schokoladiger Mittelteil, spritzig. Karamellnoten gesellen sich zur Röstigkeit hinzu, wenig Vanille. Ehrliches rundes Porter. 10/11/12/11/12/11

Good yellow-beige head, slowly receding over deep brown beer. Nutty nose, chocolate, rainwater, very clearly oats, brown sugar. Dry & faintly bitterish, well-roasted. Oats, malts, wood. Faint sourish lining, stout-like. Aftertaste has more roasted bitterness. Medium bodied, gristslickness. Good beer, average porter.

Draught @ Mikkeller & Friends. Pours translucent black with a frothy beige head that leaves some spotty trace on the glass while dissiapting. Smell is slightly malty and tiny earthy with roasted malts, dark bread, burnt toast, dark roast coffee, moist soil, minerals and hay. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and tiny earthy. Mouthfeel is soft, round, watery and light to medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with roasted malts, burnt toast, dark roast coffee, and moist soil. Solid drinkable porter.
