Full Nelson pours a bright copper blonde which is accompanied by an attractive white head, which is both compact and lasting. From the word go, the aroma positively screams Nelson Sauvin hops, with their gooseberry, raisin, citrus and tropical fruit aroma. This is echoed in the taste, with the addition of a pleasant bitterness. Don’t do things by half, get the Full Nelson!

Hand-pulled half-pint at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Oakengates on 10 Oct 2013. Golden, clear and bright; small white crown. Floral, herb and spicy hop nose: taste follows the same way, but with a mild malt sweetness. Light flavours but they work nicely: I’ve been impressed with all the beers I’ve had from these guys.

Bottled at SBWF. Clear golden, mid sized head. Rich aroma of black currant and white wine. Dry, crisp and clean. Slender bodied with pletny of NZ hops - elderflowers, black currant and gooseberrry. Bitterish finish. A modern, hop aromatic pale ale.

Bottle from House of Trembling Madness bottle shop, York. Slightly hazy, golden colour. Bubbly, but lasting, white head. Aroma is grapey, tinned pineapple, and some fresh herbs, possibly sage? Grapefruit dryness in the mouth. Smooth, easy drinking.

Bottle from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Tuesday 17th. Consumed at home Thursday 19th September 2013 Pours straw colour with a white head. Good nose, in mouth there is a little zippy, fuzziness, citrus but overall not too distinct, I’m guessing that this would be great in cask, in bottle, it is found wanting a little, lacks oomph and bite even a tad thin, that said Loz loved it. 330ml bottle. Clear orangey golden colour with average, firm, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Aroma has notes of grapes, a vinous touch (white wine), a spicy touch of nutmeg. Taste is dry hoppy, minimally strawy, dry hints of fruit parings, vinous notes of grapes, a spicy touch of nutmeg; in the finish almost flat bitter hoppy like a standard Pilsener. A little special.

Cask at the Evening Star, Brighton. It pours clear golden with a small white head. The nose is sweet tangerine, orange, yeasty dough, white grape, cooked apple and tinned peach. The taste is crisp, white grape, mandarin, tangerine, bitter-sweet aspect, straw and elderflower with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Tasty and rather drinkable APA.

Aroma: Boiled vegetables, vine tomato and straw.
Appearance: Hazy golden body with a pillowy white head. Lively carbonation. Nice lacing.
Taste: Grassy and vinous. Bitter finish.
Palate: Medium body with an oily texture, Average carbonation.
Overall: A decent American Pale Ale, but I’m not sure if I like the Nelson Sauvin hop.
