(Bottle, 0.66 l, at the overpriced tasting session at Koht, thanks suurjuust, 20150926) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had toasted malts, chocolate and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, sweetness, liquorice, saltiness and bitterness. Afteraste was roasty and bitter. A tasty and balanced dark brew.

Keg at Brewdog Camden during the tap takeover. Thanks to Chris. Pure black coloured pour with a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is rich fruit cake, sweet caramel, little sherry notes, light Jamaica cake, nutty. Flavour is composed of semi sweet cakey malts, dried fruit, toasted coconut, warming alcohol, little creamy. Lingering oak and vanilla, palate is medium full, moderate carbonation, with a little prickly finish. Really good.

Keg at BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush - London. Pours oily ruby-brown with a thick, creamy khaki head. The aroma holds lots of dark fruits, berries, prunes, hints of cocoa. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a good drop of licorice, blueberries, dark chocolate, cherries, stewed apples. Full bodied, chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with some drying, ashy roast, more dark and oily fruits, burnt bread, earthy bitterness, cocoa, leathery berries. Great depth and complexity, and quite drinkable.

Keg at BD SB as rating 8k. It pours pretty much black with a small beige head. The nose is earthy roast, dark fruits, juicy, toasted coconut, big dark chocolate action and bounty bar. The taste is smooth, earthy roast, wood, cocoa, toasty, leather, light spice, charred notes, toasted coconut, light vanilla, umami, cocoa, varnish and a good hit of booze with a dry finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Interesting, but doesn’t quite sing like some of the previous vintages I have had. A touch hot perhaps. Solid still.
