Bottle at home, 19th January 19. Pours a deep, dark black beer, small tan head. Aroma is vineous, wood, barrel. Taste is a little unexpectedly tart, vineous fruit, wet barrel, oak, there's some PX evident, I thought it would be sweeter. This beast was on its BB date, December 2018. Great and interesting impy.

Bottle from a trade. Many thanks! Dark brown/red/black colour. Nose of roasted malts, caramel, red wine and berries. Tart fruity taste with roasty maltiness. Bitter, tart and fruity. Strange but not bad. The alcohol isn’t very present.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Stas. Black with some brown foam. Big aroma with chocolate, sherry, dark fruits, wood. Sweet-tart flavor with chocolate, sherry, dark fruits (cherries), mildly smoky wood. Full-bodied, rounded mouthfeel. Alcohol is very well-concealed. Great stuff, complex.

Bottle split at Jack The Sipper leaves for the FBI again tasting, thanks to Daniel, 14/07/15. Extremely dark mahogany brown to light black with moderate tan spotting and edgework. Nose is soy sauce, caramelised brown sugar, toffee, rich dark fruits, maple syrup, pecan nut. Taste comprises bitter dark fruit rinds, chocolate balsam, charr, tiramisu. Full bodied, oily complection, semi drying close with a good boost of booze. So so for style, a bit all over the shop !

Bottle shared in London during Jack’s farewell address. Thanks to big D for another impy stout. Pours oily black with a light, creamy topping. Smells like creamy toffee whipped up with berry fruits and mellow chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with light tartness, hints of metal, berries, earth. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Burnt bread in the finish with notes of ripe apple, cocoa, wood, burnt earth. Novel if a bit disjointed.
