Big beige head. Hazy deep dark red body. Deep licorice and spice aroma with syrupy notes. Dry, and faintly sweet, earthy spicy licorice taste with red berries and herbs notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, fluffy mouthfeel. Dryish herbal spicy raspberry aftertaste with earthy notes. Lovely! Vivid, subtle, full of flavour, highly drinkable. (0.33l bottle from the brewery.)

330 ml bottle into chalice, best before 12/24/2015. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, caramel, toast, candi sugar, brown bread, clove, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, caramel, toast, brown bread, candi sugar, clove, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana, caramel, toast, candi sugar, brown bread, clove, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good dubbel. Good complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottled@HBF2014. Ambery copper colour with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma is medicine, some sweet notes and mild earthiness. Flavour is fruity, some nectary sweetness along with alcohol, sweet malts and some yeasty notes. A bit on the sweet side, but still quite a tasty brew.

Gushed a hazy dark brown with a huge frothy light tan head. The aroma is yeast, light citrus. The flavour is medium sweet light bitter with a dry fruity sweet hop yeast bitter palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.

Bottle, shared. Deep brown. Lemony, spicy, ugly. High carbonation. Ugly. No no no. Like some really bad medicine. Not a fan of this style but this was way too spicy as well.

Bottle @ home. Dark brown color with a nice red glare coming through, medium sized tan head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts and surprisingly hoppy. Taste malts, again surprisingly hoppy, lightly dark fruits. Do I taste these things because of the beer I had prior to this one? Quite weird for an Abbey Dubbel...but I quite like it. Total surprise.
