The flagship of the O’Hara’s brand, this uniquely Irish stout brings one back to how Irish stouts used to taste. First brewed in 1999, it has since been awarded prestigious honours for its quality and authenticity. O’Hara’s Irish Stout has a robust roast flavour complemented by a full-bodied and smooth mouth feel. The generous addition of Fuggle hops lends a tart bitterness to the dry espresso-like finish.

Lattina.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is roasted malt with coffee, ash, espresso, and a touch of dark chocolate. Flavour is mildly sweetish with a dry bitter finish. Body is thin with a little creaminess. Solid Dry Stout, nicely roasty and bitter.

Had the nitro version a few nights back: time for the CO2 version. An impenetrable one: completely black with tones of red around the edges. Pretty standard nose: dark malts, coffee, some vanilla. Well balanced taste: sweetness offset by bitterness with a good lingering finish. Coffee, burnt toast flavours. Well carbonated. Not that adventurous but could drink it all evening.

Pouring gives the familiar nitro / Guinness effect. Settles quicker than Guinness though with a larger 3cm head. Dark malts on the nose, slight cocoa notes, dark toasted bread. Lovely smooth head while drinking. A good bit more body and slightly sweeter than Guinness, oilier, thicker. Nice lingering medium bitterness. Darkly toasted bread taste. Lovely, great alternative.

Can from Kaufland Poljička, Split, shared with heavy. Very dark brown body, thick off-white head. Creamy aroma, raisins, chocolate, coffee, lightly toasty. Light, dry taste, bit roasty, bit toasty, bit yeasty somehow, empty... Okay at best really, but more drinkable than the Nitro Irish Red at least.
