Can from Drinkmonger. Black body with ruby highlights and a thick beige head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of charred wood, cocoa, dark chocolate and biscuit. Flavour of chocolate and vanilla with a bitter finish. Medium to full body with creamy mouthfeel. Gentle fizz. This is an unexpectedly excellent beer. I’d like to try a blind side-by-side tasting with Guinness as I think this would come out on top.

50cl Blik van Landmarkt. Zwarte kleur, nitro beige kraag.

Aroma a malta torrefata, café, chocolate, pan tostado. En boca es de cuerpo medio, agradable, notas de frutos secos, cacao y café, final amargo y seco. Cerveza muy agradable, para mi gusto ligeramente por debajo de Guinness, especialmente por la textura que aporta la nitro, no obstante muy rica.

330 ml bottle. Murky jet black with a dense brown head. Coffee, leather, rubber, dry resin hops, zesty notes. Roasty bitterness, slightly sour and sweet. Medium bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonated, dry roasty malty coffee finish. Nice Stout.

0.44 l can from 'Mr. Hop', best before July 2024. Clear, very dark ruby to black with a medium, frothy, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty aroma of caramel, coffee and dark chocolate. Gently sweet, malty, quite roasty taste of caramel, coffee, dark chocolate, some iron and a touch of burnt bread crust, followed by a short, gently roasty-bitter, watery-dry finish. Thin to medium body, very smooth and creamy mouthfeel, flat. Pleasant stout, quite sessionable, nicely smooth due to the nitro.

Typical nitro pour with brownish foam settling to almost black bodied and quite big, thick and dense creamy off-white head. Quite good intensity in the aroma: a pretty light roasted malts character with notes of vanilla, milk chocolate, slight coffee. Taste shows even less roasted character, really just a hint, with a dominant quite 'non-descript' soft malty sweetness. Notes of milk chocolate and lighter vanilla, perhaps a coffee reminiscence. Medium sweet with quite low bitterness, definitely very sweet for the style though it never feels cloying. Light to medium bodied, pretty light very thin carbonation; feels quite empty, borders but doesn't reach the soft creaminess one would expect from a nitro pour. Overall not very satisfying, but easily quaffable, reaches the passing grade.

Can from.the Vineyard. Appearance - mat black and opaque. Creamy beige head. Nose - milky, chocolate breakfast cereal. Taste - more chocolate breakfast cereal. Generally creamy with a very slight suggestion of roast. Palate - creamy and soft, medium bodied with a verybslight edge of roastiness. Overall - good.
