The flagship of the O’Hara’s brand, this uniquely Irish stout brings one back to how Irish stouts used to taste. First brewed in 1999, it has since been awarded prestigious honours for its quality and authenticity. O’Hara’s Irish Stout has a robust roast flavour complemented by a full-bodied and smooth mouth feel. The generous addition of Fuggle hops lends a tart bitterness to the dry espresso-like finish.

330ml bottle into schooner glass. Served at outside temperature (winter here in Sydney). Pours a mahogany/brown with a frothy tan coloured head. Aromas of milk coffee and a little smoky umami (BBQ?). Some patchy lacing. Taste is sweet coffee, finish is dry. Smooth texture, super easy-drinking stout.

Bottle, 10C. Very dark reddish brown with a surprisingly large beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, mocha, some molasses. Dry with a fair bit of body. Roasty - even ashy - with mocha and mild spices. Some bitterness but no distinct finish. A bit too fizzy. Not bad at all.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear dark brown almost black with red hue and a medium, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces nicely. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel and coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, licorice, ash, coffee and a hint of peat with a dry, slightly tart, bitter hop finish. Light to medium body with a creamy, smooth texture and soft carbonation. Tasty.

Final notablemente amargo.
