Draft. Pours light brown with off white head. Nose and taste of malt, mixed nuts and mild fruit. Medium body.

Union Hall, Brooklyn tap ($5): Pours a brown color with a beige head... looks and feels like a brown ale. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, nuts. Beer is very malty, but has a definite undertone of lager taste. It is almost as if you try to make a brown ale out of a lager. Not overly complex, but drinkable and pretty tasty. A solid beer, if not anything really special.

On tap at the Waterfront Ale House - a decent dark lager, especially for a Heartland product - munich malts are very prominent, and an unexpected, woody, smokey quality makes thing interesting - the finishing hop combination is questionable, making an almost soapy finish.

Kelly the brewer brought this to the NYCHG meeting last night. This is a beer made in Greenpoint but under a different label and not available in any Heartland locations. Only on tap so far, he had a growler to share. Pours with just a bit of lacing. Color is a clear brown. It is mainly a malty aroma, like a very light doppelbock. Taste is less interesting, but crispy without any off-putting aspects. So its what he was going for and did a nice job.
