Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown head that lasts for a decent while and leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma is malts, a little sweet, liquorice, lightly chocolate. Taste malts, roasted malts, dark malts, a firm bitterness with a slight sweet hint, some chocolate, a hint of hops coming through, but roast and bitter mixed with chocolate and a hint of alcohol are the main flavors. Lingering roast and bitter finish. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Heavy and full but a nice nightcap.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with short dark tan head. Rich aromas of vanilla, dark red berries, oily coffee, and dark chocolate. Flavors of rich dark chocolate, kahlua, dark berries, liquorice, and heavily roasted malts. Quite warm but in a nice chocolate liqueur way. Most excellent.

(Draught at BrewDog Camden, London, 22 Apr 2015) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of liquorice, espresso, dark chocolate and cacao. Malty, roasted taste with espresso, cacao, liquorice and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Quite a powerful imperial stout with some alcohol coming through at the end. Very nice.

On tap at Skuli Craft, pours jet black with a small brown head. Nose is decadent, with notes of chocolate, roasted malt, some coffee and caramelized sugar. Flavour is really intense, with a mix of dark fruits, roasted malt, dry caramel and cocoa. So much going on in this one. The opposite of easy drinking - this is a really slow sipper. A decadent treat that is quite brutal. Not for the feont of heart. Very good slow sipper.

Keg at BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush - London. Pours oily black with a dense, creamy brown head. The nose holds lots of dark malts, some creamy caramel, dark fruits, cocoa, hints of licorice. Hugely sweet flavor with lots of ripe dark fruit character, a bit of burnt wood, burnt toffee, earthy bitterness, gooey chocolate. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Finishes warming and sticky, with loads of burnt sugars, raisins, burnt wood, earth, dried berries, dark chocolate, faint ash. Quite a beastly number but still really tasty and dangerously drinkable.

Thanks to Beerlover_Ben. 330 ml. bottle split by two. Bottled during 12/2014. Black, mocha bubbles. Nose is sweet mocha soy ice cream, sweet sugar, coffee, cheap chocolate. Taste is light umami, bitter, light soy, herbal mixed with dark fruits & mocha soy ice cream, chocolate, touch fruits,… Bit thinner than you would expect from a close to 13 % ABV beer. This is good but considering how wonderful the other To Øl beers are, I do still keep expecting more fireworks from their RIS’s.
