10 Month Bourbon Barrel-Aged Bearded Lady, our uncompromisingly big and beautiful Imperial Stout. Born from our Dark Arts recipe, she uses masses of magical malts to deliver deep chocolate, rich coffee and vinous berry flavours, all complemented by a balanced yet subtly spicy hop profile. Powerful, robust, intriguing: yet decadently smooth and sumptuous, the lady demands respect. The barrel-ageing softens the beer, adding rich bourbon, sweet vanilla and a hint of oak. Already barrel-aged for 10 months this beer will continue to develop in the bottle for many years. Annual Release 2013.

Bottle from Cotteridge wines, Birmingham. Poured a dark mahogany colour with a thin tan head and an oily consistency. The aroma is hugely rich liqourice and alcoholic. The flavour is strong bitter, oaky bourbon and lots of alcohol inspired liqourice and loads of roasted malt and coffee too. A hugely complex beer. I’m really glad that Magic Rock are moving in this direction.

Keg at CBC 1st Birthday Celebration, London. Pours black-brown with a creamy, beige foam head. This smells incredible, rich chocolate, some bourbon, maple, dark wood, rich dark fruits. Medium to big sweet flavor with miraculous balance, some restrained roasted malts, burnt wood, lots of dark fruits, raisins and dates, dark chocolate, chocolate-covered cherries. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, lots of dark chocolate, some alcohol bite, torched wood, faint mocha, strong roast, earth, dark berries. This is excellent. The barrel aging definitely complements the original beer. The balance is superb, the flavors fully realised. Lovely chocolate and cherry character, too. Outstanding on every front.

Roast malts in the taste, chocolate, hint of licqourice, chicory, wood and bourbon tones. Fuller end of medium bodied with moderate carbonation leading to a touch of alocohol in the finish.
